VIN i historia

The VIN history is clean but the car looks repaired. Which one do I trust?

asked by Elena on

The report shows no damage, yet I can see uneven door gaps. Could the car really have been in a crash?

Yes, it can. A history report shows the paper trail, and a quiet repair at a garage with no insurer involved never reaches any registry. A clean history does not prove the car was never repaired.

That is why we pair the history with a hands-on check: we measure paint thickness on each of the 10 metal panels, judge gaps and fit, look at bolts and seals and read the fault memory. When one panel carries several times the paint of its neighbours, someone has clearly repainted it.

How to read the numbers is in the paint thickness guide. If the car is far away, order an inspection before paying a deposit.
