The dealer says the car is already "inspected" – do I need my own?
asked by Tom on
The dealer showed me a report from his own workshop saying the car passed 100 checks. Is that enough?

A report from the seller is the seller's document, even if it is thorough. The dealer's workshop has an interest in selling the car, and you can't see what was left out. An independent inspection looks at it from the buyer's side.
We're not saying the dealer is lying – often everything matches. But paint readings, a cold start in front of you and your own OBD codes confirm it without relying on his word.
It costs €278.30. How society inspections differ from an independent one is in TÜV/DEKRA vs independent, and for comparison see Car-Pass and keuring vs independent inspection. Order on the inspection page.
