Is a vehicle history report by VIN enough without an inspection?

asked by Elena on

I have a VIN report and it looks clean – no accidents. Can I buy the car without seeing it checked?

A VIN report shows what was recorded: mileage from successive entries, damage, theft and finance flags, the number of owners and countries of registration. It doesn't show repairs done off the record or the car's current condition.

A clean history therefore doesn't tell you whether the paint is original, the suspension is worn or the OBD codes are clean. That takes measurements and a physical check.

VIN history is included in the Full inspection price (€278.30), and you can run the VIN itself on the VIN check page. To catch mileage manipulation, see odometer rollback check.

Next step:Order an inspection
