Q&A
Do I get a refund if the seller sells the car before you inspect it?
asked by Sarah on
I am afraid I will pay for an inspection and meanwhile someone buys the car. What happens then?

If the car is sold before the inspector sets off, we refund the full payment through Stripe within three business days at most. The same applies when no time could be arranged at all.
If the inspector is already on the way or on site and the sale only comes to light then, the "Dry Run" clause in the terms may apply: we may keep up to the full fee to cover travel and time, because the car was sold just before arrival. We then usually offer a discount on inspecting another car.
You can reduce that risk: before ordering, ask the seller whether the car is still available, and after paying tell us if anything changes. On deposits before buying, read the guide; the price is on the inspection page.
